My name is Joshua Thomas Zingale. I was born in San Diego, California and have lived here almost continually since. My passions range from music and poetry to math and processing, even from linguistics to language models. Most of all, I am ever awed by the grandeur of theology. I graduated from San Diego State University with a bachelor of science degree in Computer Science alongside minors in Mathematics and Classics, specifically in Greek-language studies. I received the honor of "Most Outstanding College of Sciences Graduate," for which I gave a speech at the 2024 commencement ceremony. I am now beginning my Ph.D. studies in Computer Science at UC Riverside, emphasizing natural language processing and computer-science education, studying under both Dr. Allan Knight and Dr. Neftali Watkinson Medina.
In every facet of life to which I turn, I find reason to praise Him who ordered all things. Language and music show the complexity of man's mind, how he can comprehend analogies and patterns beyond conscious understanding. Language-generative AI on the one hand, being made of man, exemplifies the wonder of his mind; yet by the other moreover extols it: for even with AI's many feats, the mind of man consistently shows it to be qualitatively different, such that true consciousness, as is meant with respect to humans, is anything but near in sight for these statistical models. The mind of man then reflects the magnificence of the Creator, even Jesus, whose mind must needs to be again superior to that of man, whom He made.
The intention for this website is to be an outlet for the various ideas and opinions that come to me, whether they be solid or silly.
I have a YouTube channel, to which I have uploaded some music that I have composed, recorded, and produced. My favorite song that I have uploaded is either By Bread Alone Is Man to Live? or Too Much Change, the latter of which having been composed by a close friend of mine, which I then detailed and produced.
